Version 0.0.2 released
Thanks to the help of my testers, the game improved a lot in quality-of-life and gameplay experience. The new 0.0.2 update features a large amount of additions and improvements that were much needed for the game to properly move forward.
Full patchnotes:
UI:
- The game now uses a new font: VCS_OSD_MONO.
- Added slight outlines to the text.
MAIN MENU:
- Added a version number in the main menu.
- Added a "Guide" page in the main menu, where you can quickly learn the controls and most basic mechanics.
- Added a "Credits" page in the main menu.
- When you select the "Create game" option in the main menu, the background will become slightly darker (so that the stars don't blend with the white text).
- You can now see what each variable in "Create game" option does by clicking a question mark.
- Added a "Set to default" button that restores the customization options back to their default values.
- Added a... secret main menu variant.
BATTLES:
- Added camera zooming.
- Added a pause menu (well not really but kinda) where you can leave the battle early.
- Every time a major event happens (unit attacks, dies etc.) a message will be displayed and added to logs.
- Added a log menu, where you can see the history of important events of the match.
- Action buttons (moving, attacking, using skills etc.) now have icons instead of text.
- The layout of the default combat menu (current team, stage, CP etc.) has been rearranged to be more consistent.
- Tooltip background now adjusts its size to match the text inside it.
- Ability Points have been renamed into Mana Points.
UNITS:
- Added armor bars that appear when a unit has armor.
- Added icons that represent the active and passive ability of each unit. You can see them in the "Examine" menu.
- Added icons that indicate whether or not a unit can move or act.
- Added a visual effect that happens when a unit moves.
- Added faction icons to the "Examine" menu (I know that only one faction is available as of right now but still).
- When you prepare a ranged attack, you see fields within the unit's range highlighted in red.
- The "Examine" panel has been fixed (should no longer go outside the screen) and revamped.
- Ability names in the "Examine" menu now have the "Active/Passive ability:" prefix.
UNIT CALLING:
- Added unit portraits in the "Call units" menu.
- You can also see the unit's summary when you hover the mouse cursor over it's corresponding button.
- You can now see the CP (Command Points) cost of individual units while in "Call units" menu.
- Canceling unit deployment now makes you go back to the unit list.
MAP:
- Hovering on a field with a unit or a building will highlight it (the field) in white.
- Fields will not be highlighted when hovering on them if the player isn't commanding his units or in the default combat menu.
- Added a sound that plays when a unit picks up a weapon or a gadget.
